During our travels around the world, my family had the unusual opportunity to visit the ruins of Ur in southern Iraq. The Bible says that Abraham came from Ur, and the ruins there are thousands of years old. They include a ziggurat, a palace, royal tombs and other buildings, as well as huge mounds filled with pottery, much of which hasn’t been sorted through yet. It was great fun to look through these mounds and find bits of pottery with patterns on them! My dad and I took lots of pictures, so I thought I might as well share them in case somebody’s interested. Here are the pictures of Ur. Click on the first picture in the top left corner to begin, then go through them with the arrows at the top of the page. I have captions and explanations at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!
